Chapter 17: The structure of mind we forget to mention in our symbolic reflections of identity

I wish I could express this better:

We cannot base ourselves on the structure of the substance, but within the structure is there a spirit by how we can always use the substance to navigate–

Right now, If I gave you some sort of happy time; and then put you into a given circumstance– You would look upon the world in your sense identity and understand what is in front of you–

Then, if I gave you some sort of sad time; and put you in the same circumstance as above; there is a real issue, because even though your actions and approach are possibly different; in the sense identity your knowledge is still roughly the same–

That is, in these two different experiences; you would roughly resort to relying on the same structures you identified with in the other– Your world view would not change all that much–

This is a real problem in a sense; because the underlying structure is qualitatively different– We are not in our sense identity accounting for the different structures that are emerging and falling in every moment– Rather we hang onto the shore of a raging river in our comprehension–
